Pets - are they allowed?
Bukirk is situated on a working farm. We have a menagerie of animals (sheep dogs, sheep, cows, goats, chooks and a mini pig) and due to the decor in the Tents and Luxury Cabins as much as I love pets I don’t allow them to stay.

What’s there to do in and around Clare Valley?
There’s so much to see and do in and around the Clare Valley, not only is there wine tasting to be done there is also a couple of craft breweries, gin distilleries, plenty of amazing restaurants, cafes and wineries to dine at, cheese platters to be had and lots of historic sites and fun things such as the Silo Art in Farrell Flat, Bungaree Station, Mini Golf in Auburn, Lake Bumbunga and explore historic Burra just to name a few.
My favourite way to explore the wineries, breweries and distilleries is on our Hop On Hop Off Bus - Barrel & Vine Eggspress (of course!), it has its own tab on this webpage so chick it out! Next best way is to hire electric bikes and cycle the famous https://rieslingtrail.com.au/
If cycling isn't your thing and you want a more personalised tour then perhaps a Tour is in order with Charles at https://www.valleywinetours.com.au/ or Tim and the guys at https://clarevalleywinetours.com.au

Interacting with our Animals
One of the joys of staying at Bukirk is meeting our delightful farm crew — get ready for some cuddles, belly rubs and a bit of cheeky sass! You’re welcome to visit and pat our friendly farm animals during your stay. Bukirk has a gorgeous little crew: pet cows, woolly sheep, cheeky goats, a mini pig, a kelpie dog and of course, our chooks.
- Cows can be a bit shy and might not always want a pat, but they’re lovely to watch.
- Goats – Tootsie might try a playful headbutt (don’t worry, she can’t get through the fence), while Rida is a big softie who loves a gentle pat.
- Kevin Bacon the Mini Pig 🐷 is always keen for a pat and adores belly rubs.
- Archie the Kelpie roams the property and is a total sweetheart—he never says no to a pat.
Feeding the Animals
Some of our animals have specific dietary needs, so feeding is restricted to safe foods only:
- All animals enjoy apples, carrots, plain crackers, bread (in small amounts), and leftover salad or veggies.
- Kevin Bacon – No meat ever (especially no bacon), but apples, carrots, plain crackers, bread, and leftover salad/veggies are perfect.
- Chickens – Can eat small pieces of meat-free scraps from salads or veggies (but never chicken!).
If you’re unsure whether a treat is safe, just ask Alison. Thanks for helping us care for our animal friends the right way!
Which Tent is best for Sunrises & Sunsets?
Sunrise: Wyandotte is the ultimate spot for sunrise views, especially from the comfort of your bed. Frizzle faces northeast, so you can catch the sunrise to your right from the deck or through the window while staying cozy inside.
If you’re in a different tent, don’t worry — simply step outside, and you’ll still be able to enjoy the sunrise from almost anywhere on the property!
Sunset: Thanks to Bukirk’s unobstructed views, sunset is visible from anywhere on the property.
For a sunset directly in front of your tent, Araucana and Silkie are ideal, facing west, followed by Leghorn, which faces northwest.
With so many vantage points around the property, it’s easy to find the perfect spot for a breathtaking view anytime.
Tent Layout
As you drive in, the road leads to the right. The tents are arranged in the following order, from first to last:
- Wyandotte
- Frizzle
- Leghorn
- Silkie
- Araucana
This makes it easy to see which tents are closest to each other when booking or planning your stay.
Can I have a fire?
Fire Season allows us to use the personalised fabulous fire pit from 1st May through until the end of October, dictated by our local council. There is also a fireplace inside the Glamp Kitchen if weather should not be nice to sit outside.
Each Tent doesn’t have their own fireplace for many reasons, main one being i don’t want the tent to burn down, as they are flammable!
Is the water drinkable?
Due to Bukirk’s location, we don’t have access to mains water and instead rely on rainfall to fill our tanks.
On occasions when rainfall is limited and supplies run low, we arrange for potable mains water to be delivered by a local supplier — the same quality of water used by the township.
Whether it is rainwater or delivered mains water, all water on site is what we personally use and drink. Please note that the water is not filtered.
Water is available for purchase in your mini bar fridge, or you’re very welcome to bring your own drinking water for your stay.
Is there a fridge?
Yes the Tents have a mini bar fridge, perfect size to keep your cheese platter goodies and refreshments cold and there is a large fridge in the outdoor kitchen with a freezer compartment too. The Fancy Coops have a household size fridge which has a freezer compartment as well. There is also a full size fridge in the Pool area too
Can I charge my Electric Vehicle
Charging of electric vehicles is not permitted on the premises due to safety and power usage concerns.
While we have a backup system in place, it was not designed to handle the additional load from EV charging.
There are many EV Charging Stations located in and around the Clare Valley, if you're not sure of their locations feel free to ask Alison, she will let you know where they are
Swimming Pool
Our heated, mineral swimming pool is available for all Bukirk guests to enjoy in the warmer months!
Featuring a relaxing bench seat across the back, it's the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.
Feel free to take a dip and relax during your stay.
P.S Pool towels are provided
WIFI / Phone Service
Life's better on the farm. Forget the WIFI and connect with the simple beauty of nature, the serenity of the countryside and each other.
We’re not too far from town, so if you’re with Optus or Telstra, your phone will work out here. But if you're with Vodafone then its hit and miss.
Just a heads-up, we don’t have Wi-Fi out here, so make sure to get your internet fix before you arrive!
Is there a Hairdryer
Yes! Every tent and cabin comes with a hairdryer… but remember, you’re glamping —bad hair, don’t care! 😄
I can also make a fe
